Insipid Boxing – Pacquiao vs Clottey

I’ve watched Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s last four matches live on the big screen, and since then I never thought I’d be unmoved to reserve another ticket for his next match, until now.  The impending boxing match on March 13 at the Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, United States (March 14, Sunday in Manila) between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao versus Joshua Clottey is a lack lustre match. Let me tell you why - Cotto  has already beaten Clottey and we all know how Cotto literally ran away from Pacman’s punching power in the later rounds of their fight, his face was bloodied and even got knocked down in rounds 3 and 4.  Pacman will beat Clottey convincingly. There will be no surprise, there will be no sensation, not on Sunday and definitely not on Pacman’s watch.

I am not aware of Clottey’s prowess and skills and I didn’t even bother to watch his previous fights on You Tube (which I did before he fought De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto). I don’t care what training he’s in to prepare for his biggest fight ($1 million – already his biggest payday), I just don’t have even a pinch of worry, so I didn’t bother to scout so to speak.

Although there will be zero traffic on Sunday here in the Manila and beers will be all over the place in the morning, the fight will still be a hit. Theatres will still be full, restaurants and bars will still rake good money, people will still feel more proud when our national anthem is played (to be sung by Arnel Pineda) and people will still shout on every punch landed, but at the end of the match, the accomplishment will not be that great.

I’m rooting just like everybody else for a Pacman – Mayweather clash, if it’s not going to be this year, it may lose its lustre too.

Anyway, my fearless broadcast, Clottey knocked down on the 1st round, and finally a stoppage on  the 6th round, Pacman winning ofcourse.

P.S. Let us just hope Clottey doesn’t resort to dirty tactics. Read this article by Leo Reyes -http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/288325

so here’s how -800 works. The baseline of betting in vegas is always $100. If Pacman is -800, you have to bet $800 to win $900, if you bet $400, you can win $450, so on. while Clottey is +500, bet $100 and you can win $600. Thanks Francis.

Clottey is a very tough opponent. Even if Pac is on steroids, he can’t hurt Clottey. If Clottey will execute the correct gameplan, he can win easily as Pac is a one dimensional over-hyped fighter. Clottey’s defense is one of the best in boxing while Pac’s is one of the worst. Clottey was robbed on his fight against Cotto but Clottey came out of that fight with no single scratch, while we all know how Manny looked after his fight against Cotto. Clottey has no fan base and it is very likely that they will rob Clottey again this time. Pac has a history of robbing other fighters (on his fight against JMM) while Clottey has a history of being robbed (on his fight against Cotto) and this fight is in Texas. All I gotta say is that Clottey has to either KO or win by a very wide margin before he can officially win this fight.

By the way, if the odds is -800, you have to bet 800 to win 100. Means you will get back 900 total (your 800 capital + your 100 win, should you win).

+500 would be = bet 100 to win 500, means you will get back 600 total (your 100 capital plus your win of 500).

thanks clotteyVSpac for your very insightful comment – very good point. now that i know that, good luck pacman, defend well.

anyway, my -800 may be misleading, but i mean it the way you explained it. (Bet 800 to win 900 – cash out $800, then the return is $900, $100 win – is just what i was trying to say)

    thanks again clotteyVSpac c”,)
