Hindi ba? Ang dami ng gumagamit ng internet, computer shops offering internet don’t earn that much on internet services anymore, kasi halos lahat ng bahay may internet access na din. InternetWorldStats says the Philippines has 24 million internet users as of June 2009, ngayon, nasa 25 million na yan, and that is an understatement if I may say. Sa Facebook na lang, 12,528,400 Filipinos are using it. So kung wala ka pang website, nawawalan ka ng online presence, nawawalan ka ng kita.

Kung may business ka, most customers expect you to have a website. Kapag wala, parang… ewan. Hanggang dun ka lang. Ano pa nga ba? eh di madali ka macontact. Believe it or not, mas madali mag email kesa mag txt sa karamihan ng internet users. At usually, bago tumawag ang client, kadalasan alam na nila ang itatanong or bibilin. Sa pizza hut kapag oorder ako, titingnan ko muna ang menu sa internet, ang presyo, bago ako tumawag. Kung wala ka website, tatawag sa yo, tatanungin sa yo ang buong menu at prices pa? gusto mo ba yun? I don’t think so.

5. Your website allows you to introduce yourself to your customers in an image rich and descriptive way
Kahit na maliit lang business mo, maipresent mo ito ng maganda sa clients mo, may website ka eh.. may magagandang pictures. English pa gusto mo… c”,) At ngayon, pwde na din umorder, magkakaroon ka pa ng contact details ng mga customers mo. Get smart with movie lines

One of my favorite TV Series is NCIS, my favorite character was Agent Dinnozo, a movie buff and usually if not always, integrate movie lines and scenes in his everyday life. Why not right? It can come handy. So here’s some of my suggestions, quotes and lines from renowned movie blockbusters you can utter – surprisingly it may get you some advantage or a semblance of smartness.

Movie Lines

Movies have a vast influence to inspire us and a few of its best lines stay with us for awhile, if not always. It makes me marvel sometimes and ask myself who are the writers of these movies I came to love so much – they are gifted! I tried to research on some of the writers of my favorite movies but can’t seem to get a hold of a good list – realizing I have lots of faves, I dropped the search – sorry. But, I tried to compile ten of my best-loved movie lines that inspired or somehow stayed with me until now. They are from movies I’ve seen and felt good after leaving the theatre. I went through a rough road compiling picking just ten, but here goes.

10. The Knight’s Tale (2001)

Alone

Since I’ve been living apart from my parents for a long time now, and eventually living alone too, I managed to survive the intricacies of loneliness, household management and financial woes for so many years already. When I was in high school, I’ve always dreamed of having my own place and live like a well off bachelor someday. Oh well, it’s not happening now, sad to say. But I can give you ten tips on how to survive and maintain sanity amidst all the atrocities of being alone.

1. Get into sports or a hobby you miss
This was easy for me, I was always into sports. But to those who aren’t, try to hark bark to a hobby you used to do, or you can try new stuffs like photography or sewing. Set aside internet here.

2. Find your favorite tv series
I love to watch. Ask your friends if they have a favorite tv series and try to watch it. if you don’t like it, find your own. “Heroes” used to be my most loved series but it’s gone now. I watched Kyle XY, Ghost Whisperer, Supernaturals, Prison Break, CIS, NCIS, How I Met Your Mother, House and Seinfeld. Some of these series have ended but you can still catch up on NCIS, House and How I Met Your Mother. Do that.

3. Avoid too much use of computers / internet
Computers don’t keep us company; it keeps us idle for me. Unless you are using the computer or internet to learn a new skill, it’ll just be good for some entertainment for 1 hour or so, more than that, it’ll keep you from doing more important things and it’ll just make you gain more pounds, believe me.

4. Learn to cook
Do not just learn to fry and boil eggs, learn how to cook real meals. Learn Adobo, (Famous Filipino Dish) every filipino must know how to cook adobo. Learn Sinigang, Kalderata, Omelette and if you have time, baking and the hardest for me, learn Kare-Kare. Whatever your preference in food, learn to cook it.

5. Invite friends for dinner
To beat the loneliness, you NEED to have friends come over from time to time, atleast twice a month is enough, but once would do. Serving your home cooked meal will be the best, and besides, this will ensure you’ll tidy up your place. You don’t want your visitors seeing a dead rat in your backyard.

6. Read
It may be boring to some, but I recommend you start reading books. Self-help books may be a start, but you may also want to try short stories and novels.

7. Write
Start a journal or a blog. It’ll keep your mind and imagination busy.

8. Have lunch with your family
Living alone doesn’t mean secluding yourself from family, go to your mom’s house, brother or sister and bring some food. Catch up. You’ll be surprise how your mom will be delighted.

9. Don’t bring strangers
Once in awhile you’ll be tempted to invite new acquaintances to your place, maybe you had too much to drink or they have, or maybe they need a place to crash. Avoid it. Just don’t.

10. Cherish or love somebody
As pathetic as it may seem, you need this. It’ll keep you waking up in the morning and get up. Have the inspiration to move on or keep the hopes alive, or else you’ll succumb to self-pity. Smile at every chance you have. Hardest thing to do though.

Intervention

When do we start intruding into someone’s life? Is there a social responsibility in our part to interfere? Can we get inviolved in the first place? Believe it or not, people have the right to intercede, or at least they think they do, usually. But will you?

Friends, families and even just acquaintances tend to speak their mind abruptly then take it back by succeeding it with phases like “but it’s up to you”, “but it’s your life” or the cliché “whatever will make you happy”. A few friends and mostly families try to intervene more vehemently to someone they care for. Now, if you are that person being arbitrated in your life so to speak, how far will you listen?

People tend to be defensive when being “cornered” by friends, about something they feel their friend should cease from doing. The usual issues that make them cynical are illogical relationships they’re in, vices they’re hooked in, inconsiderate family relationships and sometimes just pure intervention on something they hate about their friends character or habit.

I watched How I Met Your Mother too many times and they have this “Intervention” when all of them agree to interfere with one another, one at a time though. I like watching it, but when it’s being done on me, not really.
So when will intervention work? Here is the basic sign you should be aware of when you want to intrude and hope to be successful.

First, your friend or relative voluntarily asks for you to intervene. Second? There’s no second, that’s it.
I saw one movie about a drug addict and their friends tied him up to the bed to control his addiction for 48 hours. They endured the shouting and the withdrawal symptoms, and they were successful in the end.

Now, this contradicts my one and only guide, but how many friends will go to this extent? Tying up your friend? Nailing your friend to the wall? (haha, please don’t do this) so what can we do if we REALLY need to intervene? It’s an open question and I can’t answer it.

I’ve been talked to, I’ve been redirected, I’ve been advised, I’ve been cornered, I’ve been intruded and I didn’t like it and hardly accepted it.

But there will come a time that you wished you have listened to some, it’s not about why? It’s about where you’ll be or where you are at right now.

To my friends, I get it. But it’s not bad being single, it’s bad not hoping to find someone.

Divine intervention though is needed sometimes.. haha.

P.S. Still, you’ll be the captain of your own ship. Just make sure it’s not steering for no port.
